The plan, Mund and Salix

From: Mark

Subject Plan

Ok is this the plan?

Allistair casts Rope trick and everyone but Salix and Mund climbs up. Mund is invisible. Salix casts Summon natures ally and calls a small elemental. He then climbs the rope. Mund and elemental each open a door.

I need to know where on the map the rope trick will be. I also need to know what type of elemental Salix will summone. I also need to know what Mund will do after he opens the door.

Pretty sure Salix will summon a water elemental and have it open the hot (fire) door.

Has anyone thought about what we do if these two (?) things do not end up killing each other? I mean, after a few hours we're gonna fall outta the sky (so to speak) and Salix would rather it not be into the midst of two dragons, or 15 elementals still alive from the winning team, etc. ;-)

OOC: I was only partly serious about wanting to see the fight. Harp will want to have everyone out of the room, with only himself at the door, waiting to close it as Mund comes dashing out. My understanding was that Allistair was going to cast invisibility on Mund, Salix was going to summon the small water elemental, have it open the hot door while Mund opened the "water" door. Mund was then going to boogey out of there, back to the door into the T-room, where Harp will be waiting to close it if anything comes their way. IF, and this is a big IF, Harp can watch from where he is and is not being threatened, he will keep the door open, but if he sees the smallest hint of danger coming toward him, he will close the door. Officially, Harp does not know what these are, until he hears from Salix or Allistair. He will not risk the group on the Rope Trick - lets just leave the room and let these guys fight themselves.

Well, if Harp's waiting to hear from Salix, Salix doesn't know either. If forced to provide a possibility, Salix will hesitantly offer that they *might* be elementals of some kind, but in this magical construct they could also be something he's never heard of. After all, he'd never seen a dog breathe fire. Maybe one room has a water-breathing buffalo and the other has a fire-breathing horse.

We're not going to be inside the rope trick, so that isn't an issue.

If they don't kill each other, then tomorrow we go in and clean house.

OOC: These knowledge checks are becoming a pain in the ass (pardon my language). Maybe the one room is a replicated bathroom from Paul Brown Stadium during halftime of a Bengals game.

OOC: So long as one is dead, and the other is greatly wounded, we might wnat to finish it up now. We will wait and see.

I meant if they don't even *try* to kill each other.

I have no problem with waiting and seeing.

Subject Salix and Mund

After what seems like a week of discussion, the party decides on a plan. Most of the party moves back to the door into the room, with Harp remaining at the door. Allistair takes a few seconds to review the invisibility spell; it has been a while since he has used it. Chanting the words and touching his brother on the shoulder, he watches Mund fade from view. The barbarian gives a small yelp and then gives a childish laugh. Allistair hustles back out of the room, leaving Salix as the only obvious person still in it.

The druid stands next to Harp, looking a little nervous. He had never summoned an elemental before. He knew that they could be wild and very powerful. Looking at Harp one last time, Salix kneels down on one knee and starts the chant. It is similar to the one for the hippogriff but with a different tone to it. The chant has a fluid sound to it and the words hint at the sound of a brook on a summer day. At the corner of the room (room A) there is a shimmer and a three foot high splash of water forms. Mund looks on in amazement, wondering why the water does not collapse and cover the floor.

At Salix's mental command, the water form moves to the door. Mund turns and prepares to match the small elementals actions. He watches as the thing reaches a watery hand up and pushes on the latch. As the catch releases it pushed the door open. Mund does the same and takes a quick look in. The room is well lit with a fountain in the middle, about 6 feet high. It is spraying water up and out into the room. The room seems to be a pool; how deep it is impossible to tell.

As Mund turns to run back to the party he catches a glance into the other room. He can see what looks like braziers or something set in the floor, flame coming from them. There seems to be six of them. As he runs he sees the little water thing enter the room. Then his angle is cut off. Mund makes a b-line for the door where Harp is waiting. When he gets there, he turns back to see what, if anything has followed him. He sees Harp looking intently and decides to have a little fun. "Boo" he yells in Harps ear. The 1/2 orc jumps and almost cuts Mund in half with the slash that follows. Luckily for the barbarian, Harp has no idea of where he is. "Whoa, whoa. Just me havin a little fun. Nothin coming out of the room we can see."

OODM: Now what?
